Overview
Civic literacy is about the knowledge and skills needed for active participation in society and governance. Rights are not only personal freedoms but also tools for collective change. UNESCO frames citizenship education as preparing children to be informed, thoughtful citizens.
Loktantra was designed less as a win-or-lose game and more as a way to spark dialogue, critical thinking, and imagination about power and decision-making. It helps students move beyond textbooks, applying civics concepts through play, while giving teachers a tool to make democracy tangible and engaging.
Board Game on Civic Literacy
How might we boost civic literacy in Grade 9–10 students by making democratic processes and civic participation easier to understand, while encouraging open dialogue, opinion-sharing, and critical thinking?
