Overview
Autorickshaw drivers spend long hours in a fixed posture, leading to severe musculoskeletal strain and discomfort. This UX research-driven project identifies pain points through field studies, user interviews, and observational research to understand their seating challenges, posture habits, and ergonomic needs.
Using human-centered design principles, the project explores solutions to enhance seat ergonomics, posture support, and usability, ensuring better long-term comfort and reduced health risks for drivers. The goal is to create a more sustainable and driver-friendly mobility experience through design interventions.

How might we create affordable, portable back or seat supports that drivers can easily add to their current seating to relieve posture-related discomfort?
AutoEase
We propose a solution that integrates with the existing seat structure of autorickshaws. The design features an ergonomically contoured backrest and seat support to enhance comfort and promote better posture.
The seat is designed to reduce strain in the back, especially the lower back, and discomfort experienced by autorickshaw drivers during long hours of driving. This solution addresses posture-related issues while being easy to install and compatible with standard autorickshaw seating arrangements.
